majority of those discovered dead were found outside, stranded in the cold following a blizzard. It dumped nearly 6 feet of snow on Buffalo, New York.
Officials have confirmed that at least 35 people have died as a result of a deadly winter storm in Western New York at the time of this reporting.
According to WBEN radio, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said Tuesday morning that seven more deaths brought the total to 35.

Brown had previously stated that police had recovered the bodies of 18 people in the city.
“It’s been a difficult and dangerous storm,” he said. “It’s been described as a once-in-a-generation storm, and we got everything that was predicted and then some in Buffalo.”

According to FOX Weather, the deadly blizzard dumped more than five to six feet of snow in Erie County, burying homes and roads in Watertown, Hamburg, and Buffalo, New York. Tens of thousands of customers in Western New York lost power due to the freezing weather.
Poloncarz stated that three of the 27 confirmed deaths were caused by EMS delays. 14 people were discovered dead outside; three suffered cardiac events while shoveling or blowing snow. Four died from a lack of heat, and three died in a vehicle.
