Isha Sesay, who recently turned 47, is expecting a baby girl in a few weeks.
Isha Sesay is open about her decision to become a single mother at the age of 47.
The former CNN International anchor appeared on Today Tuesday to update hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager on her pregnancy journey and how she manifested this moment in her life.
Kotb asked the journalist if she had considered the moment her baby girl was placed in her arms after birth. And Sesay admitted she hadn’t allowed herself to think about it yet.
Sesay announced her pregnancy on a show Today in October. She did it along with an essay about her decision to take control of her life and pursue her greatest dream after reaching a crossroads following the end of a relationship.
Sesay recalled the moment she discovered she was pregnant after explaining that she had failed in-vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles.
“I finally caved and bought a home test the day before I was scheduled to return to the clinic because I couldn’t bear the hours-long wait before the clinic called with the results,” she explained.
“The next morning, before the sun came up. I rushed to my bathroom and opened the box. The minutes passed, and I went through a range of emotions. I screamed and fell to my knees. It was before bursting into tears when the word ‘pregnant’ flashed up on the tiny screen.”
She recently turned 47 and is looking forward to meeting her baby girl in the coming weeks.
“Whenever I say the words, ‘I am pregnant,’ I am filled with awe,” she wrote in her essay. “I am overjoyed, emotional, terrified, but most of all grateful.”
