Nick Mcguffin was a senior at Leah Freeman’s high school at the time of her disappearance. They were in a relationship that wasn’t approved by Leah’s mother.

On 28 June 2000, the couple decided to go on a double date with their school friends. Then, Nick dropped her off at Cherie Micthell’s house for preparation.

But for some reason, Leah and Cherie got into a conflict and she left the house alone. She was last seen that night near her high school.

The dead body of Leah was discovered nearly five weeks after that on a wooden embankment.

In 2011, Nick was put on a trial and he pleaded not guilty. However, on 10-2 majority from the Jury, he was sentenced to 10 years in Prison.

Regardless of Nick Mcguffin’s plead of not guilty he was charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend Leah Freeman.

In 2014, Attorney Janis Puracal decided to re-look at the case of Nick and discovered that there wasn’t any DNA evidence taken into account.

As per reports, there was some blood in the victim’s shoes but in 2000 there lacked advanced technologies to test DNA.

In 2017, Janis requested for DNA test and found the blood in the shoes was from an unidentified person. It wasn’t of Nick or Leah.

This took a big turn in the murder case and using this evidence he was freed early from Prison in 2019.

Nick affirms that he is still trying to find out the real murderer of his High School girlfriend.

Where Is He Now In 2022?

Since Nick was released from prison he lives with his daughter born in 2007. As per reports, he is currently based in Portland.

Furthermore, he works as a Chef.

He has also filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the Police Department of the City of Coos Bay, Coquille, and Oregon since he was convicted wrongfully.
